Making jewellery for people who don't really like jewellery – that’s a big ask, but the filigree designs of Saskia Diez are so beautiful and reserved that they can only be liked. With her jewellery label, the Munich-based designer is one of the most famous in Germany – and her works of art are also extremely popular in Japan. Saskia Diez creates what she likes herself – and that for the most part from recycled materials. Her jewellery is made by various goldsmiths in and around Munich, but always locally. If you would like to try and buy, it is best to stop by her showroom in the Glockenbachviertel (quarter).

The fashion designers Michaela Wunderl-Strojny and Anna Karsch met while studying at the Academy for Fashion and Design, from which their joint fair fashion label “Akjumii” was ultimately created in 2012. The two friends are known for their minimalist fashion for women, which consists almost exclusively of natural materials and which is lovingly handmade in a factory in Hungary – or even in their own studio. They invest a lot of time in creating a new collection, which should of course be inspiring, but also timeless enough so that no one item goes out of fashion. And whoever comes to them with an individual change request can have this done in the store located on Reichenbachstrasse.

In 90 boutiques around the world, you can now buy the handmade clothing from A Kind Of Guise. But it all started in 2009 with a shop in Munich. The local label pays special attention to its high-quality fabrics – including the Harris tweed from Scotland, the loden wool from Austria or the teddy fur from the famed German company Steiff. Production takes place exclusively in Germany, thus guaranteeing fair payment for those tasked with the sewing work. The high-quality clothes and accessories have their price, but they also last forever and, thanks to their timeless design, never go out of fashion.

That German craftsmanship can have its price is also demonstrated by the VOR shoe label from Munich: Here, they produce leather sneakers of the highest quality. The shoes are manufactured at a factory in Rhineland-Palatinate, packed in boxes made in Thuringia and sold in the company's own shop in down-town Munich. It could hardly be more transparent and local when it comes to sneakers – and the leather itself also comes from Italy. The two founders Andreas Klingseisen and Jörg Rohwer-Kahlmann wanted a shoe that was timeless, transparent and durable.

The two friends Sedina Halilovic and Jelena Hofmann have known each other since school, and their own label “Mykke Hofmann” has been growing for over ten years now. In the meantime, the two of them have not only established their own shop where you can try on this stunning, high-quality clothing for women, they are also trying to work ever more sustainably. Materials are now regularly replaced by a more sustainable alternative: tencel instead of silk, cotton instead of lyocell. The designs and cuts are timeless in any case and always fit, and Mykke Hofmann have always produced in Europe.

The two designers Svenja Weimann and Veronika Wagner are behind the Vanook label. In their own workshop in Untergiesing, they lovingly handcraft minimalist backpacks, handbags and purses from vegetable-tanned leather and waxed cotton. From the first draft to the prototype to the finished collection - at Vanook everything is made in Munich. Moreover, the high-quality materials come from the region.
